Armor was founded in 2009; back then we were called FireHost and our mission was different. Our founder, Chris Drake, felt there needed to be an alternative to the lack of security tools and practices in the hosting market, so we introduced a secure cloud environment defended by multiple layers of security technologies. In 2011, FireHost launched the first PCI-compliant cloud. In 2014, we became the first cloud to be HITRUST CSF certified, and we were chosen by HITRUST to host and protect its MYCSF application. Our solutions help organizations safely host their sensitive and regulated data with HIPAA- and PCI-compliant cloud hosting.

In 2015, we took the same security layers and processes we built for our secure hosting solution and adapted them for use on other cloud environments—including public cloud infrastructures like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure, among others. Our secure hosting option is still available as Armor Complete, and our agent deployed cloud security solution is available as Armor Anywhere.

In 2018 we embarked on a new chapter, with Drake shifting into a new role and the entrance of Mark Woodward as our new CEO. Stay tuned! Our solutions continue to evolve, and you don’t want to miss the next iteration. However, one thing will always remain the same: We are here to make sure our clients’ data is safe and compliant, and the path to get there simple and effective. We take on the burden of cybersecurity complexity, so our clients don’t have to.
