Item 146

#146 12th Century Spear

The most widely used weapon of the early medieval soldier was the spear. It was an excellent hand to hand weapon, having a great advantage in reach over shorter weapons. This example of a spear from the 1100's has the simple grace of a practical fighting weapon. Spears of this type were in constant use from the early dark ages through the renaissance. The heavy mid ridge gives this spear superior strength for its weight. The ash shaft is mounted into the socketed head of the spear.

Original: c. 12th - 14th Century, Spain, Alava Prov. Archaeol Museum, Vitoria

Head Length: 11.375" x 3.125"

$130
s/h - $36.00

A note to our foreign customers:
Due to the dimensional weight of our spears mounted on the shaft and the size restrictions on international shipping it is not possible to ship shafted spears overseas. They would cost literally hundreds of dollars to ship. The best option is to purchase the spear head and have a shaft made at your location for the spear. Even a custom shaft made to your specifications will be less expensive then the shipping from the US. Contact us via E-mail at aa@armor.com for price and shipping costs.
