Item detail

#069 Smallsword

The smallsword, a French development, first appeared around 1660 and spread very quickly throughout Europe. The incredibly light weight and very fast action were an extremely lethal combination and resulted in a refined style of sword play. This weapon is appropriate for stage combat with a triangular blade that is unsharpened, what is commonly known as a Musketeer or double wide Epee blade.

Original: c.1715-1730, Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Blade Length: 29" Overall Length: 34.75"
